Kitchen & Orangery Remodel
This project is currently underway but we wanted to share our progress to far!
My clients wanted to open up their kitchen to their orangery to create a large open space they could entertain in. To open up these two spaces we took down the wall in-between the two rooms and put in a steel to take the weight of the exterior wall. While we were demoing we decided to add new spotlights to the kitchen to make this once dark kitchen bright and light.
In the orangery we plastered one of the walls to allow for more privacy and to allow for a wall to mound a TV onto. The orangery had a proper roof on it but the ceiling still had blinds to hide the roof above. We decided to remove the blinds and insulate and plaster in-between the beams to help with heat loss and to create a proper usable room in any weather or temperature.
While all of these works were being completed my clients and myself looked at different options for the layout of their new kitchen. My clients fell in love with the idea of having a kitchen island where people could gather round so we came up with a few different ideas on how we could achieve this. Due to the shape and size of my clients kitchen, we decided the best layout was to create an L shape island that would extend into the orangery and create a mini island for them.
Here are some photos from site so far...
