Edwardian Home

This Edwardian home is one of a kind on its street and was in need of a face lift while keeping the integrity of this period home in tact.

The hallway is in the centre of this home with no natural light, so we wanted to lighten and freshen the whole space.

We decided to go for a neutral stripe carpet up the stairs and on the landing to guide the eye up and to bring some pattern to this large space. We then matched the stair carpet with a neutral carpet for the hallway to break up the stripes and lighten the space.

Once the carpet was installed we picked out one of the grey coloured stripes in it and used this as the main paint colour for this space. This neutral and modern colour rejuvenated this space and allowed more light to bounce around this otherwise dark space. The Edwardian features in this home are beautiful and we really wanted to emphasise this by adding a darker colour to the picture rails and corner details.

A hallway is the first thing you see when you walk into a home and this hallway is now ready to be shown off! With just a bit of modernising, this hallway and landing now look the part and set the tone for the rest of the home.

Onto the living room. This room is beautiful and large in size but it needed some vibrancy and personality. We wanted to bring a rich, deep colour to this room to give it that cosy, warm feeling it was missing while still allowing it to fit in with the period this home was built in. We also wanted to choose a colour to go with the light green and gold curtains that were already in the room.

The royal, warm green we chose looks beautiful and makes an impact when you walk in. We went for an ivory cream colour on the picture rails and moulding to emphasise the characteristics of this period home and finished the room off with a bright white on the ceiling and above the picture rail to contrast the green.
