Kitchen Remodel

This project is exciting for our clients as they are completely opening up one side of their ground floor to make a large kitchen/diner they can relax and entertain in.

When we first came to measure this space when you walked into the door on the right hand side you entered into the small kitchen and dining room which wasn't practical for this large family. In the middle of this now open space you can see two small walls top and bottom; these walls actually connected and blocked off half of the space. In the top left hand corner my clients had a downstairs toilet with a corridor below it and in the bottom left hand side of the floorplan they had a large utility room which was mainly wasted space. By opening all of these rooms up to create a large open plan space, my clients are able to make the most of their kitchen and have more room to entertain in.

With such a large room my clients wanted to make sure the design was right first time so we designed the below floorplan for them. Now when you walk into the space from the hallway you are met by a large open plan space with a central island which is the perfect gathering spot. To the left when you walk in we created a seating area that is perfect for when guests come round and for the whole family to be together in the same space whether they are cooking, relaxing or studying. To the left of the seating area we created a coffee bar / bar area for additional storage and a more unique design. For the kitchen we wanted to give our clients as much cabinet and worktop space as we could so we wrapped the cabinets around the corner and integrated the dish washer, cooker, microwave and fridge allowing the sink to be under the window with views into the garden. We wanted to make a statement with the large central island which is great for food prep and gives the people on the bar stools plenty of space to stretch out. To the right of the kitchen we added a log burner by the french doors to give this space a cosy feel in the winter months and to give the elevation a beautiful focal point. We also placed a dining table in the space which can be tucked back against the wall when not in use to give my clients as much space as possible, or be pulled out when guests are round which would look right out of the french doors and into their garden.

To the right of the kitchen my clients currently have a small snug space that is currently accessed through their living room on the other side of the house. As we have removed their utility room and toilet we have relocated these two rooms to the snug which was never used previously. The utility room is now smaller and not taking up as much space as it previously was and the downstairs toilet is now central to the home.

Our clients are currently renovating their snug space to create their utility room and downstairs toilet and we can't wait to see this finished so we can start to see the new kitchen renovation taking shape!
