This project is currently underway but we wanted to share with you our progress to far!
This kitchen renovation came about when my clients unfortunately had a leak through their ceiling into their kitchen. All of their wooden cabinets were ruined and although this renovation wasn't planned for the near future, my clients decided to go ahead with their plans to extend into their orangery to create a large open space to entertain in.
To open up these two spaces we took down the wall in between the two rooms and put in a steel to take the weight of the exterior wall. We also took down the damaged ceiling in the kitchen and added new spotlights to make this once dark kitchen bright and light. We then moved onto the orangery where we plastered up the shorter glazed wall to allow for more privacy from the neighbors and to make the room warmer and well insulated. The orangery already had a roof on so we took down the blinds which hid the roof above and insulated and plastered in between the beams to make this a livable and cosy room.
While all of these works were being completed my clients and myself looked at different options for the layout of their new kitchen. My clients fell in love with the idea of having a kitchen island where people could gather round so we came up with a few different ideas on how we could achieve this. Due to the shape and size of my clients kitchen, we decided the best layout was to create an L shape similar to what they had before, that would extend into the orangery and create a mini island for them.
